Tips & Suggestions for First-Timers
While we accept dogs and cats of any age, we recommend that your pet be kennel/day-care ready. Start boarding your pet at a kennel or day-care center at an early age. The longer you wait, the more difficult it may be for your pet to adjust to a home away from home. If you have an older pet, we recommend you take our facility out for a test drive on a weekend, just to make sure your dog feels right at home in our home. Check out the facility before you subject your pet to it. We recommend you take a tour of our facility. Make sure you feel comfortable leaving your pet with us. Ask questions. The more you know about us, the better we can aliviate any anxiety you may have while you're seperated from your pet. When you bring your pet to our facility for a tour, please make sure you have them on a leash. It's safer for the pet and it's our policy. Make sure the entire facility, indoor and outdoor, is clean and orderly and is at an adequate temperature. Ask us what you should bring along with your pet. We highly recommend you bring treats, toys, or a special blanket that your pet loves so that they feel more comfortable in a new place. When you check in your pet at the boarding kennel, bring in your most recent vaccination certificates. Here is a list of vaccinations we require before we can allow your pet to stay with us. Along with you asking us questions, we'd like to know as much as possible about your pet, including any health problems, habits or behavioral concerns, medications, and diety rules that your pet follows in your house. We'll always try our best to match as much of what you do for your pet. When checking in at the boarding kennel, try not to make your pet feel like he's being left behind. Try not to have tears or any guilty feelings as your pet will sense your feelings and will think that something's wrong. He may become frightened and fearful, thinking that you are abandoning him, and will have a difficult adjustment period for the first day or two. The best thing to do is to reassure your pet that everything is fine and tell him that you will see him soon. Check out the kennel policies and hours before you drop off your pet. Try to understand and follow them. Call in advance if you are unsure of anything. |
